I'm not quite following you. What I was suggesting was that installing
"x-window-system-dev" might solve your problem with the ./configure error.
In other words, the fact that the configure script can't find the X
includes path is most likely because those files that are installed by the
x-window-system-dev package are simply not there until installed - does
that clarify matters at all for you ?

Did you try installing it and then re-running the configure script ?
