I don't have time to really elaborate right now, but I did get it to work.
It is a permissions problem.  If you give the SPOOL directory permissions
777 and change the config file to dump the printouts to your home
directory, it works great.  

This obviously isn't a long term solution, but it may get you what you
want and it can probably be refined.
