Powernowd & Centrino Core Duo

Hallo!
I've installed Ubuntu on a Core Duo based laptop from Dell, and I have a
question about cpu frequency scaling.
After installing a smp kernel both processors are working fine, but frequency
scaling is only working with cpu0. I've found a workarround by setting
ondemand as the default governor for cpu1, but... shouldn't powernowd be
actualized to support more than one processor -it's still a laptop and needs
not to waste power/get too hot-? 8-?
Thanks for your time ;)
PD I've also compiled 2.6.16 kernel, same behaviour.
