Similar problem here when I run invoke "keychain" from .gnomerc to
provide persistent ssh credentials across GDM logins (the same
setuid/setgid failure). Moving keychain to session startup removes the
problem, albeit at the cost of having to reenter the ssh passphrase
every login.
In fact, it seems that if there is an extant ssh-agent (so
gnome-session gets invoked as '/usr/bin/dbus-launch
--exit-with-session /usr/bin/gnome-session' (vice ' /usr/bin/ssh-agent
/usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/gnome-session') then
it fails the uid test. Happens on 4 computers involving three
architectures (PPC32, IA32, AMD64).
