Xgl doesn't start with fglrx

Yeah i've tried all this, but it still does not work. Xgl starts and i
get this grey screen without an xterm appearing.
I tried running an xterm -display :1 on vt1, but there just happens euh
nothing.

Interestingly i can run Xgl from another Xsession (called nested i
assume), so i have an xgl window in which everything works fine, but i
cannot run this Xgl standalone.
