Breezy: Manpage bold font is unreadable.

It looks like the man reader's bold font is just a primitive pixel copy,
making many characters just rectangular blobs.

The following fonts were installed:
xfonts-75dpi
xfonts-100dpi
xfonts-base
xfonts-scalable

The situation was not improved by blindly adding:
console-terminus
fonty

Can any kind soul suggest a font, or action on my part, that might
alleviate the situation?
