upgrading ff from the 1.0.x to 1.5.x you need to install them side by
side you cant upgrade to 1.5 from repos. here this guide has always
worked for me

as for amsn im not sure you can upgrade that in repos either i think
that needs to be installed from tar. but im not sure with amsn,
