Yes, that did the trick with Nautilus. So now I can burn data CDs,
which is extremely helpful as part of my backup process. It would be
nice to able to burn audio CDs, however, and I've no idea what the
problem is there.
By the way, it strikes me as a bit odd that:
(a) Serpentine doesn't depend on one of the established apps like cdrecord, and
(b) the Ubuntu team would choose to make such a "re-inventing the
wheel" app the default.
Maybe it wouldn't seem so odd if I weren't having issues, but this is
a good example of why you *don't* reinvent the wheel: you get a chance
to make everyone else's mistakes all over again, as well as new ones
of your own.
