Dapper kernel does not support Zen?

In another thread, I asked about using the Creative Zen Nano in Wine and was 
advised to use QEMU.  That being said, I later discovered that the kernel 
seems not to support the Creative Zen Nano at all.  I d/l the sources & 
poured over the possibilities but, unlike another distro I used for a bit 
over a year, nothing seemed to pop out at me that could be used to support 
the Zen.  The kernel-2.6.15-22-386 totally ignores the Zen ...and, therefore, 
hotplug ignores it, as well.  I did a deliberate search through the .config 
file for 'creative' & 'zen' and came up totally dry.  Anyone have this device  
working...?  If so, how, please??
