win32codecs & amd64: current status?

Hi folks,

anyone know what the current policy is on win32codecs in dapper/amd64?  I've
seen various stuffo n the net:  download & install mainually, make a chroot,
etc.  But aret here 64-bit versions of the codecs available now?  IS there
a repository somewhere?  Thanks,
