Which hibernate script?

I had no success at all with hibernate or suspend on a Sahara laptop on
Dapper or Breezy. At one stage I could hibernate and when it starts up
again the graphical interface was so messed up that I had to reboot.

With suspend I have to reboot also to get a usable computer.

Other options to blank out or suspend when I close the lid also do not
work.
