Newest Flash

Hello all, 
  This is probably a stupid question, but is it possible to install the
latest flash from the macromedia website through their directions and
not have it mess up my current firefox set up?  I have the flash plugin
installed right now from the repos, but I would like the newest version
if possible.  I know nothing is guaranteed to not break, but is there
something I need to add or change so that firefox sees the new version
and it works?  Im running breezy and firefox 1.07 all updates.  Thanks
