Upgrade to Dapper (from breezy) lost sound output

D'oh. Fooling around a little bit, I found that it worked when I turned 
up the volume for the "surround" speakers, which of course led me to 
check where my speakers were hooked up... They (a single pair of stereo 
speakers) were plugged into the surround output from the sound card. I'm 
sure it was my cat that did it-yep, it had to be that mischievous cat. <:-[
