ubuntu and compaq evo

hey guys have problem getting the internet going on a compaq evo it has
a ethernet port on it and is up and running as it shows up in the
network manager i can acess the modem interface (10.1.1.1) via the web
browser,  but not the internet,  the modem in question is a dsl-502t,  i
have a dsl-302g and no problems with it on my acer or compaq laptop. the
502t works fine under windows on the usb hmm ant ideas?
