System Restore

I know that in ideal conditions you do not need a system restore in
linux, but sometimes you do. For example where I live I get random
electricity failures all over the country several times a day
(sometimes dozens of time). So my desktop  gets rebooted all the time.
In XP I usually end up corrupting somethind due to these failures and
windows restore usually is a saviour. 



Due to this reason I'm not willing to install ubuntu on my desktop
although I have it on my laptop.
