Ubuntu as a family

Hello,
Ubuntu is already a family of distributions, there's Kubuntu, Xubuntu,
Edubuntu and well... Ubuntu.
I think that is a bit confusing.
I use Kubuntu and when I do something that is Kubuntu specific I mention
Kubuntu, but when I do something that is breader I mention Ubuntu... but that
might be mistaken as the Ubuntu distro instead of family.
I know the original goal of Ubuntu was to be only one distro, but others have
appeared and some have been embraced and now it is a family and I believe the
concept of family works very well. Because each one is particular, yet the
90% that is the same is still the same, sharing the load.
I would propose then to use "Ubuntu" as the name of the family and change the
name of the Gnome distro to "Gubuntu"[1]. What do you guys think ?
I hope not to start a flamewar, that's not my goal. My goal is to publish this
idea so it might reach the people that might be interested on it (I haven't
seen a clear feedback path, I don't even know who might be the right person
anyway).
Thank you.

[1] There's a "Gaiming Ubuntu" that's already called Gubuntu, but seems to be
small and dead. I think that using the name for the Gnome distro is more
important.
