Hi group,

I'm new to ubuntu and don't know the ropes yet.

I just installed v.510 using only the defaults. And it
boots into a panic. Seems reiserfs(my / fs, ok, not a
default) support was compiled as a module so of course
the boot process can't find the root partition.

I booted up using the CD to take a look and noted that
there is no linux link pointing to the sources. And
under /usr/src there is nothing. Then how do I
reconfig the kernel?

I tried using apt-get install ppp(I only have dial-up
available here) by pointing it at the pool dir in the
CD but it says it can't find the file.

I note also a link, vmlinuz under root that points to
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-9-386 and initrd.img that points
to /boot/initrd.img-2.6.12-9-386. But neither of these
work. When I tell grub to use the links in / it
reports, Error 15: file not found. When I tell grub to
use the kernel and initrd directly from boot it
doesn't give me errors but I get the kernel panic as I
mentioned.
