You need to have admin rights to be allowed to write to system files.
Try that:
press Alt + F2 to bring the "run" dialog.
Enter the following: "gksudo gedit /etc/modules"
an press enter... you should now be asked for your user password, type
it, and you should now be able to edit/write/save the file.
