YA SSH newbie

new status --SUCCESS !!!--

so.. with my fresh install of ubunto un fettered by earlier
blunderings,
--the pre.installed VNC worked fine. -mentioned above
--sudo apt-get openssh-server also worked fine "out of the box"
my first login attempt = success.  I've got some security tightening
to do before opening 22 on the router/firewall but the two pieces I
wanted (ssh, remote desktop) are in fact.. working nicely.
