Kmail not importing gpg signatures correctly

Hi All

I'm a Mandrake user who's toying with the idea of switching to Ubuntu.
Please hold off on the old fruits and veggies :-)

I'm using an up to date version of Dapper-Kubuntu and Kmail.
If I manually import a gpg key (via seahorse or cmdline) then Kmail handles
gpg signatures fine. But if I look at an email that I don't have the public
key imported for, I just get

> Message was signed on blah blah with unknown key blah blah.
> The validity of the signature cannot be verified.
> Status: No public key to verify the signature

The public key is available from the keyserver though. How do I get Kmail to
import it automatically? The 'automatically import keys' check box under
Settings->Kmail->Security at the bottom is checked.

GnuPG log viewer under 'Tools' doesn't work either. I had thought it was
a 'work in progress' since I was running Dapper, but now we are at the late
stages and it's still not working I figure it must be me :-)

In what might be a related issue, it seems I need 'seahorse-agent' to cache
my gpg key, but I can't figure out how to get it to start on every log in.

Any suggestions appreciated

Brian
