Ethernet Problems on Acer Laptop

Ok, I'm having exactly the same issue with an Acer Travelmate 8103, the
cards go back to deactivated each time we try to activate them. The
thing is, i kept telling my boyfriend we could make his laptop work
under linux (kubuntu dapper f6, btw) and now I can't seem to get the
simplest ethernet access, it's so frustrating!!



Anybody???
