Is it possible to automatically update restricted modules?

Ubuntu Users,

After the latest kernel upgrade to 2.6.15-23-686, I was not able to log 
into the X window system because the kernel no longer worked with my 
Nvidia drivers.

In order to get X, and Gnome, up and running again, I had to go into 
Synaptic and select the latest version of "Restricted Modules" and 
manually update it.

Is it not possible to set it so that restricted modules will update with 
everything else? It's kind of a hassle to lose my video drivers with 
every upgrade.
