dual boot & system clock confuse

Are you synchronising your system time with time servers?

The best way to have the correct time all the time is to have Ubuntu _and_
XP sync up to a time server when they start up. I think XP only does a
cron-like 'Synchronise every X hours' affair, but Ubuntu can be (and should
be already!) set up to sync up when it boots.

I'm not at an Ubuntu machine at the moment but I think you can manage the
time server you connect to from the System -> Preferences (or
Administration) menus. Failing that, right-click on the clock applet and go
into the Preferences.

I don't know how sophistimicated NTP is, but it may help to ensure your
system has the right regional stuff set up - Timezone being the important
one.

Can't remember where exactly to set that up, for me I set it once in the
installer and everything 'just worked'.
