install a kde app on ubuntu

Install Ubuntu and then sudo apt-get (or aptitude or use Synaptic,
update-manager, adept, ...) install kubuntu-desktop. (and
Xubuntu-desktop and Edubuntu-desktop)  I have done all of the above
with an original Ubuntu installation and all is well with the
negligible exception of confusion between/among the artwork employed at
splash-time, GDM-time and shutdown-time.

No.  Just install the others.  Some have said they experienced problems
doing so, though.  I have not.
