to enable cpufreq-selector to actually change the clock frequency you
need to have the SUID bit set, todo this you just have to reconfigure
the package but take note of the warning.
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-applets
select yes and restart the applet. then you can right click to change
the freq, also under the prefs menu there is an option for governers
aswell as frequencies
