It's possible the DVD drive isn't supported. Why are you using a DVD and
not a CD?
My only suggestion now is to file a bug against the installer by using
this link:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug
(you'll need to have a launchpad account)
And then try to install it from a different CD or DVD reader - does
anyone you know have a laptop with a compatible reader?
