Yeah, well, I understand your pain, but that doesn't meant that vmware
cannot do what was asked

Sure this makes sense in some cases, but it does not solve everything. I
have both Windows (work image) and Ubuntu (private) installed on my work
laptop, and I am currently considering the solution with the profiles to
be able to run the work image in parallel when I have booted Ubuntu.
