Yep !
No later than yesterday ! I had a bad Edgy DVD. Before installing Edgy,
I ran the CD integrity check, after a minute, the progress bar stopped
half-way, but otherwise no sign of any problem. It's only after 1
( minutes of waiting, that I tried my chance at changing virtual
console (I was using the text installer), and and bingo, on VT3 I had
the kernel messages, bags of buffer or I/O pr something errors ! I am
pretty sure it would have sat there for hours indeed, had I not
rebooted it ! I also have a SCSI CD writer, and often got I/O errors,
but they were handled better: after only a few tries/seconds, the
kernel would give up.
