gnome vs. scim

For what it's worth, I use SCIM under Gnome  and I have no problem like
this. I can create, name and so on with no problem. I use Anthy
(Japanese input method), not CHinese simplified, but since bugs with the
particular input method should only affect the internal functionality of
SCIM, that should as a guess not make a difference. So I would suggest
trying to find out if there's some isue with the SCIM installation in
general. 

I have "scim-gtk-immodule", "scim-modules-socket", "im-switch",
"libscim8c2a" and "scim" (and "scim-anthy" of course) installed; you
might want to check that you're not missing some part.
