Skype freeze

My coworker experiences Skype-related whole-laptop freezes for several seconds.
Just after a freeze dmesg shows "BUG: soft lockup detected" and that
message is followed by ipw3945 errors: https://launchpad.net/bugs/73129

Could it be network related?
