Hi,

LAMP does not need much space, but of course that depends on the size of
your MySQL database(s) and the size of web files.

Of course you _can_. But IMHO it's not very wise because the desktop
edition installs a lot of packages for the X/Gnome-Environment and you
most certainly do not need a GUI on a server.
