Well, yes, it is CLI - but on the other hand, although lame has many
options, in the simplest case you can just type:

lame yourmusic.wav  yourmusic.mp3

... which by default gives you 44.1 kHz 128 kbps , with stereo , for the
output mp3 :-) 

It also takes *much* less space on your hard drive, and you don't have to
wait for the GUI to appear ;-)
