How to install GnuCash?

Ah, okay, indeed I normally don't keep source repositories as I decided
for myself that I will never need them.. :)  Until today that is.

But anyway, I think I got the last of the dependent -dev packages the
hard way, so now it's  building the thing as wel speak.  Bucketloads of
text scrolling across the terminal..   with some warnings but no way I
can check all that. 

Which kind of makes me wonder, with a DIY compile job, is that really
safe for a financial application I wonder... Like if it's some game or
what not then it doesn't matter much, but I'm not sure I feel
comfortable actually using a financial application that's been compiled
using hit & miss fiddling about.

(I also downloaded Moneydance for Linux, which I have to say comes with
a VERY nice installer.  It does cost $30 for the non-trial version, but
I've easily spent $30 worth of time just trying to compile GnuCash.. )

Thanks for the tip on the SRC repositories!!!
