Konstantinos is correct, that worked for me. If you are unsure of your
monitor vert/horiz details, do:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and set the monitor for a "Generic"
type.  This will allow you to chose 1024x768, 800x600, or 640x480 at 72,
60 or 56Hz on startup. Note: be sure to save a backup copy of
/etc/X11/xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup or similar before you
start messing with the settings :-)
