May be you can tray this option; install printer through GNOME CUPS MANAGER.
It's work for me when my xfce installed under ubuntu.
This is my way, from my diary;
"...There is no 'add-printer' menu and something like that at xfce. I have
looking for it and i not found it. But after i serching the answer through
www.googl.com i found it. Here is the way;
1. make sure gnome-cups-manager installed. If it's not, install it.
2. through terminal run this command;
sudo gnome-cups-manager
3. After that apear install printer menu. Install printer as usual.
===quote from my linux diary========
Begini nginstall printer caranya;
2. lewat terminal jalankan perintah berikut;
sudo gnome-cups-manager
3. tak lama akan muncul menu add printer. Selanjutnya install printer
seperti biasa.
That's it, men. Setelah printer terinstall kita bisa ngeprint seperti biasa.
