And it should vary; you get a lot of questions, not only about the
screen, but the keyboard. But when you get to the video portion,
selecting "Advanced" will give you more questions than you can answer.
I have a Sun monitor with the DDC (or whatever) that's blown...I
have to enter in the freq's that I found on Google anyway, so I just
edit the failsafe.
And yeah, I tend to fiddle with the file instead of the dpkg route,
for this situation, like you. But then, I've been working in Linux for a
good long while. (So long I YEARN for an all-inclusive, hands-off way to
do such things...)
