 I will be interested in the answer too. I had uninstalled SCIM from
Dapper using Synaptic and thought it gone for good. Somewhere in the
upgrades from Dapper to Edgy to Feisty it got put back and now the
floating toolbar sometimes covers the pager I put in the bottom panel in
Gnome. In addition Latex, which I do want, got put in with SCIM on the
floating toolbar.
