Apt-get Problem

Hi again,
I think I was misunderstood:
I do not need these packages. I want to cause apt-get to stop trying to
install / configure them...
apt-get works fine, except it spits a list of 177 packages it cannot
configure due to a dependency error...
Where is the list of the failed packages? Can I just delete the contents of
a directory or re-build the cache or something?
Thanks!
Amichai
