Hi all. Since Nov. 06 there's the following bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/72262
by which the forms wizard in OOoBase fails to finish the creation of the
form. I am using Feisty 64bit and the problem continues to exist in the
included version of OOo 2.2.
Inability to create database forms through the wizard makes OOoBase
rather useless on Ubuntu, which in turn makes Ubuntu rather useless in
certain work and educational environments. Mind you, this is a
debian/ubuntu specific problem.
I thought of compiling from source or converting the OOo RPMs with
alien, but the first seemed too much trouble and the second never
completed successfully.
Eventually, if it helps anyone, I downloaded from the following site:
ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/SRC680_m207/Build-1
the file: OOo_SRC680_m207_LinuxX86-64_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz
which seems to be a bleeding edge development version of OOo 2.3. I am
not sure how stable it may be under heavy use, but I can confirm the
following:
1) the forms wizard bug is gone
2) the fonts look small and ugly
Any chance of having Feisty roll out a corrected version?
Any idea about the fonts problem?
Thanks and regards,
Stratos
