Important configuration files

Mostly the configuration files for the system exists under /etc --> for
example /etc/network/interfaces
and for user specific, it's hidden (prefix with dot [.] ) directory/file
under /home/<your user>/ --> for example /home/hsrai/.gnome ,
/home/hsrai/.xmms , etc
Of course there are some other config that stored in other places. Hope it
