Cannon LIDE20 Scanner Driver Problem?

Hello Friends

For quite some time, around three years, I am using a Cannon LIDE20
scanner with both my laptop and desktop, with Ubuntu, SuSE and Fedora,
different versions. The xsane works with all of them. Even a month back,
when still I was using the Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft, I did use it.

But, now, with Feisty Fawn, it is not working. The xsane is starting
fine. It is showing all component windows of the xsane frontend in
perfect order. But, it is not working. When I click the 'Preview' or the
'Scan' it is starting in usual manner, and after some time generating a
blank black image. Not that they are not working. They are working: but
generating blank black images.

Not any HW problem. In fact I had to go through the process of
installing MSW-XP and the driver suite, with the proprietary driver CD
given with the scanner (actually I had to find it out too) to make sure
that the HW is OK.

I was stupid enough to transfer to Feisty on both the systems together.
With Edgy it was working fine. Any suggestions now?
