Hmm...and you're sure the disk is ok? Have ya gone through all the
self-checks?
I have a similar problem on an old, very-much-wants-to-be-a-firewall
motherboard that just_don'_stinkin_want_to_boot. (Unless it's
Fedora...) I've tried every combination of desktop, alternate, and
server on each Dapper and very-early-Edgy, and it looks like it's just
gonna have to go in the dumper. I'm *hoping* you haven't found the
same- I can't imagine that, on new hardware.
Well, have you gone through the release notes? Turned off ACPI and
such? (It's a longshot, but maybe it'll shake something lose we can use...)
