OrbiCam does not work on Ubuntu

OrbiCam does not work on Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xbuntu Feisty Herd5 ( fawn? )
7.04 amd64

lsusb = Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0402:5602 ALi Corp.

video0 does exist but xawtv does not see it ??

can’t open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device

v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device
no video grabber device available


Note: Tried building and install driver from SVN source:

What's the hang up on this driver  web search is full of OLD News about
the m560x driver ??
