PERSISTENT mode problem

Hi, 

My FIRST post here :-) 

I've installed FEISTY on my USB key, by copying the live CD on the Key. 

I boot with my key and select PERSISTENT mode. 

Now Should I create a user/password before starting to configure (change
stuff) my UBUNTU (on the key)? 

PERSISTENT mode is not saving my changes to the USB key.

Please Advise.
