NO SOUND

Hello
   
  I have a sound problem with 6.10 Ubuntu edgy version.
  I think, the sound files are as follows.
   
  /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
  /etc/asound.names
  /utils/alsasound
  /etc/modules.conf
  /etc/asound.state
  /etc/esound/esd.conf
  /etc/asound.conf
  /etc/make.conf
  /etc/rc.d/rc.alsa_default
  /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
  ~/.asoundrc.....
   
  Which one is the real alsa sound conf file?
  Have you got  these file examples?
   
  In addition to, I haven't got "Master" in the "alsamixer" (PCM present)
