Yes, and the mailing list participants that were around when Edgy was
released mostly agreed that the number of issues is significantly less
now than it was then. Plus, the majority of issues that did arise were
upgrade issues, but the OP in this case wants to do a fresh
installation.
In addition, Feisty supports much more new hardware. It has a mostly
working wifi solution that supports WAP. It supports proprietary codecs
with automatic prompting and has a simple solution to get commercial
DVDs working (explained in the much improved Help in the system menu).
It has numerous bugs in GNOME fixed. It has zeroconf networking enabled.

If someone requires absolute stability, he should go with 6.06 LTS
(Dapper), as recommended by the official installation docs.
