A software issue

Thanks for the answer,
It did NOT give any error message and exactly as you guessed, strangely, just sat there and did nothing. Now I'm installing it again and here's the procedure:

1. I input "sh installation.sh" // (Installation begins, everything seems fine)
2. It asks if I want to install symbolic links to a directory in my path. I choose Yes (/user/local/bin).
3. Installation in progress -- takes a while (11% ... 90%... done!)
4. The icon appears on the desktop AND when I double-click it, nothing happens!

Strange! Isn't it? I mean if there is something extra needed, why it's not included with the CD itself and yet there's not even any instructions.
On the one hand, The Longman did just as I described, and on the other hand, Oxford software just complained as follow (right in the terminal):

$ sh installation.sh

/root/.setup3817: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load 'atal'
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1
