Gnome has an option (which I don't believe is enabled by default) to
pin the menu's in memory, which helps for that particular test. The
upcoming cfs scheduler and swap_prefetch (maybe? some day?) help with
much of the rest, and may already be in some of those distros.
Beyond that, actual usage bear little resemblance to what happens on a
fresh boot on a fresh installation, and there may be other tradeoffs
involved as well.
