I'd just assumed (yeah, yeah) since you said "server" in your original
post that it had a running MTA.  If your mailing needs are simple you
might want to look at the ssmtp or nullmailer packages.  (Disclaimer:
I haven't tried them; I use Exim; YMMV.)
