Need advice on configuring external options for opera......

I wish to use opera. Firefox is a good browser but every time I use it
it my memory jumps from 2-300 MB to around 500 which is ridiculous even
with multiple tabs open.

I have difficulty with opera though because many sites stream content in
WMA format. I have VLC, totem, Mplayer etc. and anyone of these can
handle playing WMA's but I don't know how to configure the browser to
call these programs to handle embedded content. In the
preferences>programs menu option, it says add new protocol, then select
program you want to handle the protocol.

How do I configure it to handle the "WMA" protocol? I'm using Opera 9
BTW, on Gutsy in a T23.
